About Us
Spero Law was founded by two brothers, Aziz and Abdul, united not just by family, but by a shared commitment to offering legal support that is grounded, honest, and genuinely people focused. They did not come together to build a typical law firm. They built Spero to feel different, more human, more fair, and more accessible to the people who need it most.
At Spero, we understand that legal matters can feel overwhelming and uncertain. Our role is to make things clearer and more manageable, providing straightforward advice, practical guidance, and steady support at every stage. Whether you are planning ahead or facing something difficult, you will never feel alone in the process.
We are proud to offer legal services that feel both professional and personal, because they should be. Aziz and Abdul bring legal rigour and experience to every matter, alongside warmth, empathy, and the kind of client care that comes from knowing what it is like to be in your shoes, with fairness, integrity, and a touch of familiarity along the way.
Both of our lawyers speak English and Arabic, allowing them to support clients from diverse backgrounds with clarity, cultural understanding, and ease.
Spero means hope, and that is exactly what we aim to protect and restore through every matter we take on.
Aziz Helou
From an early age, Aziz knew he wanted to be a lawyer, not for the title, but for the responsibility that comes with standing beside people when the stakes are high.
Aziz’s practice is focused primarily on criminal law. He has significant experience acting in complex criminal matters and has represented clients in Melbourne and across regional Victoria, appearing before a wide range of courts and tribunals. Prior to establishing Spero Law, Aziz worked as a senior lawyer across multiple agencies and organisations, gaining broad exposure to high stakes and challenging legal environments.
Aziz holds degrees in Biomedicine, Microbiology, and Law, bringing an analytical lens to his legal practice, particularly in matters involving technical or evidentiary complexity. He has also been involved in significant Federal Court litigation that has contributed to outcomes extending beyond the individual case.
What clients appreciate most about Aziz is his calm, direct approach. He is focused on clarity over complexity, and on guiding people through difficult situations with honesty, confidence, and care. He believes good legal work is not just about outcomes, but about ensuring clients feel informed, respected, and supported throughout the process.
Abdul Hassan
Abdul practises across all aspects of family law, supporting clients through some of the most personal and emotionally challenging periods of their lives.
He has acted for clients at every stage of the family law process and is experienced in both negotiated resolutions and court-based proceedings. Abdul approaches each matter with care, patience, and a strong focus on outcomes that are practical, fair, and sustainable for the people involved.
Abdul holds degrees in Accounting, Finance, and Law, and has worked across both private practice and the public sector. This background has shaped a grounded and balanced approach to family law, combining a strong understanding of the legal framework with a genuine appreciation of the human realities that sit behind each case.
What sets Abdul apart is the way he works with people. Clients often describe him as calm, kind, and attentive — someone who takes the time to listen and understand what matters most before offering advice. He is known for his measured advocacy, attention to detail, and his ability to guide clients through difficult decisions with empathy, clarity, and reassurance.
Abdul believes that good family law practice is not just about resolving disputes, but about helping people move forward with dignity, confidence, and a clearer sense of what comes next.
